Yacht Workers Council (YWC) has released its crew registry app on the App Store and Google Play, less than one month after they launched their web-based platform at Monaco Yacht Show. The app puts the registry and its features at a user’s fingertips on their phone, within easy reach.
After two decades at sea, Captain James Battey built YWC to bring fragmented records together in a single digital profile that crew own and control. Secure tools like Crewdentials and Digital Sea Service verify certifications and sea service. Each profile stays with the crew member across yachts, crew agencies and employers.
“YWC gives the industry the infrastructure it’s been missing: a crew-specific registry, with one verified record of identity, qualifications, tracked sea time, compliance tools and resources for career progression,” said Battey. “Yachting must maximise technology and tools to stay ahead. The app ends the hunt for documents spread across many places such as Whatsapp messages, email threads and physical folders. It syncs and shares members’ data as they wish to share it – securely.”

YWC membership is tiered with a free version and full benefit membership priced at £99 annually. Each sign-up sends funds to causes that crew back, including ISWAN (the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network), which runs YachtCrewHelp, a free, confidential, multilingual helpline for yacht crew, open every day, all day. YWC also sponsored the Crew Wellbeing Bags, handed out in port and on yachts at anchor, packed with goodies and resources for mental and financial health and careers.
