The winners of the BOAT International 2020 World Superyacht Awards have been revealed. The 15th annual edition of the annual awards were held as a virtual event hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, with some of the most spectacular yachts from the global fleet taking part.
Last night’s winners include:

- Metis
- Pi

I am a supporter of achievement, craftsmanship and inspiration within the yachting industry, however there have been some rumblings within the superyacht sector about the sponsors influence and judging process for industry awards ceremonies – indeed, it seems all the Feadships who were nominated won awards and deservedly so, however to outsiders it may seem biased with Feadship being one of the event sponsors.
My comments don’t discredit the technical engineering, construction and innovation shown in these superyachts however we must remain mindful of acknowledging diverse yacht design and keeping event sponsors appeased via a judging panel made up of current superyacht owners. Something for the industry to think about!
